Hi, I’m Steve.

I make the complex compelling

For 25 years, I’ve figured out what people don’t know, what they think they know, and what they need to know — then closed the gap. Constitutional rights first (Flex Your Rights, 48M YouTube views). Now AI.

If your team needs stronger content or help making AI useful, let’s talk.

What I Do

2002 – 2023

Constitutional Rights Education

AI Adoption & Coaching

From AI-Curious to Building Real Tools

I build AI automation pipelines, custom tools, and daily workflows without writing code. If you can describe it, you can build it.

“If there was to be an award for entrepreneurial talent for defense of the Bill of Rights, I would give this award to Steve Silverman.”

Tim Lynch — Former Director, Cato Institute’s Project on Criminal Justice, at the Cato Institute premiere of 10 Rules for Dealing with Police

Flex Your Rights

I founded Flex Your Rights and spent 21 years making the most popular know-your-rights content in the country. The NAACP screens our films at community events. Law professors show them in class. Police instructors use them to train cadets.

Taking dense, high-stakes material and making it land with real people — that’s my thing.

10 Rules for Dealing with Police

Narrated by Billy Murphy Jr. (The Wire), Freddie Gray’s family attorney.

BUSTED: The Citizen’s Guide to Surviving Police Encounters

Narrated by Ira Glasser, former ACLU Executive Director. The film that started it all.

Supreme Court Impact

Education That Flipped the Script

We taught millions of people to say “I don’t consent to searches,” “Am I free to go?” and when to say nothing at all. In Rodriguez v. US, where most defendants fold, the defendant could have been reading from our script: He refused a dog sniff and never backed down. The Supreme Court ruled 6–3 that police can’t extend traffic stops without reasonable suspicion. Did Dennys Rodriguez see our videos? I don’t know — but he followed the playbook we taught millions.

Local Policy Impact

Repealed a ‘Stupid’ Law

After I filmed a police encounter in Silver Spring, MD, officers cited me for violating an obscure county law requiring bicycle registration. It looked a lot like retaliation. I got the body cam footage, produced a video, and sent it to my state delegate, who called it a “stupid law” on Facebook. Reason Magazine and Fox 5 picked it up. Six weeks later, the Montgomery County Council voted unanimously to repeal it.

SEO & Digital Marketing

After Flex Your Rights, I took the same skill — making complicated things clear and approachable — and freelanced it. Take an unwieldy subject like mass tort litigation. I break it down into every question someone would search for, and make it readable for humans and Google alike.

Perfectly Timed Content

$58K/mo in organic traffic value

My article ranked Top 5 for “Camp Lejeune Lawsuit” right before the president signed a law letting victims sue. The page took off, and the firm signed dozens of new cases within weeks.

371 Researched Pages

Police Transparency Directory

I built a searchable directory rating 371 police departments on how easy it is for civilians to file a complaint, designed to drive sales leads for the startup’s case management software.

#1 Ranking: “Mass Tort Marketing”

B2B Guide for Attorneys

Not a fun read. But if you’re a lawyer Googling stuff about lead generation, compliance, and channel strategy on the topic, this guide’s likely to be the first place you land.

Building with AI

I help people find the right AI tools for their work and build workflows that stick. Here’s a recent tutorial where I walk through designing a protest sign using free AI image tools.

I also build things, including this website, a job search autopilot, and a personal AI chief of staff.

Zero Lines of Hand-Written Code

This Site

You’re looking at it. I built it from scratch by dictating to Claude Code (much faster than typing!) No templates or page builders needed. Every section on this page exists because I asked for it.

90% of the Noise, Filtered

My Job Search Autopilot

I no longer open LinkedIn to browse for jobs. My self-hosted system scrapes hundreds of postings every morning, scores them through two AI models, and delivers a ranked shortlist by 7 AM.

He Just Knows Me

Sterling, My AI Chief of Staff

I built an AI assistant that organizes my life. Every morning, Sterling pulls together my inboxes, calendar, and priorities into one briefing. Midday standups and weekly reviews keep me on track.
